Nds4droid is an app the simulates Nintendo DS games on Android mobile devices. While this app is not yet fully developed, users are already able to play some of the video games. The games available through this app will be very familiar to fans of the extremely popular Nintendo DS gaming system.

While there are some positive aspects, there are some negative issues with this app as well. One of the biggest problems with the app as it is now is the low frames per second rate that makes the game very choppy and slow. This can be extremely frustrating, particularly when playing what should be the faster paced games.

The positive aspects of nds4droid include the ability to save a game at any point in the process so that you may return to it at a later point in time and pick up where you previously left off. The app also uses OpenGL to support the graphic and sound rendering which is quite good.

Another positive feature nds4droid is that it is offered as an open source app. This means that anyone can download and install this app and change the code as he or she sees fit. The process of loading ROMs is identical as that of any similar type of emulator.

As previously mentioned, this app is still in the development stage so not all Nintendo DS games are available at this point. Of the games that are currently available, some work better than others. Final Fantasy IV is an example of a game that is affected by the low frames-per-second rate. While the game works, it runs slower than it technically should.
